A new aboriginal support program at Dryden High School is making waves across the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board.
The initiative was launched this summer and helps aboriginal students make the jump from elementary to high school.
Staff also assist them in tutoring, mentorship, community connections and exploring post-secondary opportunities.
The Board says the program has been well received by DHS students and has promoted an inclusive and encouraging environment for them.
The students say it has changed the trajectory of their high school careers in a short period of time.
The Board says the initiative is the first of its kind in northern schools.
