Northwestern Ontario residents now have better access to cardiac services thanks to a new angioplasty suite at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.
The Provincial Government is investing $8-million in the project.
The new suite will mean residents will no longer have to travel outside of the region for angioplasty services.
Northwestern Ontario currently has one of the highest rates of cardiac disease in the province.
In the past year about 450 patients from the region had to be transferred to other sites in Ontario to receive an angioplasty
procedure.
