The Northwestern Health Unit is trying to make public health information more readily available.
They have developed their own app called “NWHU Connect”.
Manager of Environment Health Thomas Nabb says the tool relays any important health advisories in the area.
Nabb says there is a notification page that will push out beach closures, high heat warnings, extreme cold warnings, boil water advisories.
He notes it’s now available on the Apple App store, but says they are also working on an Android version.
