There’s a new regional commander for the Ontario Provincial Police.
Superintendent Darrell Smiley has been named as the top cop in the North West Region.
Smiley began is policing career in Ignace back in 1987 and has been in Thunder Bay since 1995 serving in various capacities.
He replaces Superintendent Ron van Straalen who retired last month after 33-years of police service, six as regional commander.
