New Conference Centre Coming To Kenora

A brand new Conference Centre is coming to Kenora.

Seven Generations Education Institute has been given almost $1.2-million from FedNor for the project.

Kenora MP Greg Rickford says the facility will be able to host major conferences with room to accommodate at least 450-people.

The project includes retractable conference seating, floor seating, and a mezzanine level which will double as a restaurant for the hospitality courses at the school.

The Centre has also received funding from the province, while Seven Generations has invested over a million dollars themselves into the renovations.

Construction is expected to begin this August.

Rickford says he first sat down with the school shortly after taking office in 2008 to work on creating a “home base campus” for first nations education.
