Members of the OPP will get a wage hike of 8.5% in
2014, and that’s fine with Premier Dalton McGuinty.
The 6,100 officers got 5% this year in advance of a two-year wage freeze requested by the province.
They will get the raise in 2014 because their contract guarantees they will be the highest paid police in Ontario.
McGuinty considers it victory that provincial police officers
agreed to the freeze.
Several Northern municipalities have voiced their displeasure over rising policing costs, noting its putting them and taxpayers in financial hardship.
