New COVID-19 Case In Dryden/Red Lake

The Northwestern Health Unit is reporting a new positive COVID-19 test result in the Dryden/Red Lake area.

This marks 68 reported cases of COVID-19 with 54 resolved in the catchment area.

Follow up with the person involved and their contacts has started and anyone who is identified as a contact for this case will be contacted directly.

For privacy, the NWHU does not release or comment on information about the location of COVID-19 test results.

Information about gender, age and method of transmission will be posted to the Ontario COVID data website when it is available.

The health unit recommends that everyone assume COVID-19 is in their community and practice preventive measures like physical distancing, wearing a mask in enclosed public spaces and when physical distancing is a challenge, good hand hygiene, and not touching their face.

Anyone who has symptoms, or who has been in contact with a positive case, should get tested.

As of Thursday October 8th, there are 9 active cases in the Kenora region, 3 active cases in the Sioux Lookout region and one active case each in the Dryden/Red Lake and Rainy River regions.
