New Deal for High School Teachers

The Rainy River District School Board and the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation have both ratified a new 4-year contract but the Union is less then pleased.
Union Vice-President Paul Elliot says they are pleased with the agreement but notes the ratification vote of less than 70% is indicative of members disappointment in the settlement.
Elliot adds they attempted to address the Board’s issues during talks but found that the Board was entrenched in positions that inadequately addressed student success.
He notes the Board’s refusal to lower class sizes, unless their demands were met, was very troubling.
