The Ontario Public Service Employees Union has ratified a new collective agreement.
It includes a two year wage freeze, reducing the entry-level starting salary by 3%, eliminating termination payments at retirement for new hires, as well as changes to job security and short-term sick benefits.
The agreement will save the province $34.1-million this year, $37.4 million next year, and about $55.9 million in future years.
The province says the deal is consistent with the government’s fiscal plan to balance the budget by 2017-2018.
