Record Breaking Thursday In Three Communities

This may come as a bit of a surprise to some, but only three temperature records were set yesterday.
Red Lake came in at -40.1 degrees, 0.1 higher then the previous low set in 1966.
Sioux Lookout hit -39.7-degrees.
The old mark was -38.3 set in 1961.
Atikokan also set a record low of -38.9. (Old mark -38.7 in 1987)
There is some relief on the horizon.
CKDR Meterologist Bill Laidlaw says the wind will be a factor for the next couple of days, but it will warm up starting Sunday.
The extreme cold is expected back next Wednesday.
All roads are snow packed and icy and motorists are urged to take it easy when travelling.
