New Fees, New Recycling System

Dryden Council has approved water, waste disposal and sewage rate increases that were included in this years budget.
Among the changes, Bag Tags will now be $1.75.
Councilor Bill Brown voted against the hike because of changes to the recycling system.
Brown believed it would have been more fare to let residents get used to the new system and cut down on garbage use.
Other increases include, 10% for water rates, 13% for waste disposal and sewage will now be bumped to 90% of the water rate.
Speaking of recycling, its starting to return to normal since the demise of the Northwestern Ontario Recycling Association.
The Transfer Facility is up and running, more material is now being accepted and the City has signed a contract with 2 companies to process and haul material.
The final hurdle is the establishment of the $400,000 Self-Loading Unit.
