New Hospital for Sioux Lookout

After years of protests about poor service, hundreds of hours of
meetings & negotiations the end is finally in sight for Sioux Lookout.
The Federal Government officially committed to spending $37.4 million
towards the cost of a new Hospital Tuesday.
Minister of State for Public Health Carolyn Bennet says the new money
is vital to the project.

Sioux Lookout Mayor Kathy Kiepek was thrilled with the news but says there is still much to be done.
The Province has committed to covering 50% of the 60 bed facility
with the Feds paying another 44% and the remainder to be handles by the
new hospital corporation.
construction is expected to begin in about a year with a 2009 opening
date.
