New Online Tool In Fight Against Scam Artists

The Better Business Bureau of Northwestern Ontario and Manitoba has come out with a new tool to tackle scam artists.

March is Fraud Awareness Month, and the BBB has created the on-line resource ‘Scam Tracker’.

CEO Len Andrusiak says sadly scams often target people who are too trusting or financially/personally vulnerable.

Andrusiak says Scam Tracker is a live interactive tool and you can actually drill down into your neighbourhood or community and see the scams that are taking place right next door.

Andrusiak says they’ve also released a list of the top 10 scams of 2017.

The on-line purchase scam tops the list with $13-million lost last year alone.

Cases of fraud have cost Canadians more than $95-million.
