Isadore Day has been elected the new Regional Chief of Ontario.
Day was elected in a traditional ceremony Wednesday at the All Ontario Chiefs Conference on the Rat Portage First Nation.
He notes one priority is developing wealth and resources for aboriginal communities.
Days says they have to address issues like the Indian Act as it needs to be entrenched in terms of how it has control over their lives and territories.
He adds a big part of his attention will centre on youth and securing a strong future for their children.
