Students attending Confederation College in Dryden, Sioux Lookout, Kenora and Fort Frances will have better access to support services.
Coordinator of Counselling Services Jim Lees says their “Bridging The Distance Project” aims to connect students to counselling services, financial aid, registration services and many other departments at the Thunder Bay campus.
Each campus has an office with a phone, computer, printer and a video terminal which allows quick and easy access to the service providers in Thunder Bay.
Lees says most of the time, the way to help students is to help them early. Therefore, if a staff member finds that the student is having problems, they can offer support right away through videoconferencing.
Lees adds the project is expected to last 2-years, and then they will go from there.
