Taking learning to a whole new level.
That’s what New Prospect’s Grade 5 class did today, when they Skyped Justin Trudeau to learn about the government.
Teacher Mary Trist shares with CKDR how she got the Liberal leader to Skype.
“On a Sunday afternoon at about noon I tweeted Justin Trudeau, probably within a couple of weeks his people responded and direct messaged me.”
Trist says at first she was more excited than the students about the Skype session.
But after a mock parliament they clued in.
“They then realized where his place was in all of this and where each member of parliament sits in all of this. They are very excited now, for them it’s quite real, they feel very important,” Trist says.
Trist also shares what she hopes the students learn from the Skype call.
“That politics is real, that these people are real and that they are there to work for us.”
Every student got to ask Trudeau a question and the Skype call lasted a half hour.
