A new protocol has been established that will see schools in the Kenora District work closer together with the O-P-P and Municipal police forces.
The Emergency Response protocol clarifies the roles and responsibilities of principals, police and teachers to make schools safer.
Al Dawson, Superintendant of the O-P-P Northwest Region says the guidelines mean students may be seeing more officers around the hallways.
Dawson is hoping that police will work with students to stamp out violence.
The 22-page document is a result of provincial legislation passed in June 2000 to make Ontario Schools safer.
