Many of us take to heart that life is too short, but for those living in northern Ontario, life expectancy is 2 to 3 years shorter than those living in other parts of the province.
That’s according to a Health Quality Ontario report, which indicates residents will likely die before the age of 75.
The ‘Health in the North’ report reveals the main causes of premature death are suicide, circulatory disease and respiratory disease.
Authors of the report say there are stubborn and persistent deficiencies in the care people receive in this region.
