Published reports say the Ministry of Natural Resources plans to tighten up restrictions on prescribed burns.
Such fires have been put on hold until the Ministry implements all of the recommendations resulting from a prescribed burn east of Sault Ste Marie that exploded to 15 hundred hectares.
That fire was lit by MNR staff as part of a partnership research effort with the Canadian Forest Service.
Among the recommendations – a ban on prescribed burns within Restricted Fire Zones.
