New Shaft Operational At Northern Mine

The new shaft at the Lac des Iles mine north of Thunder Bay is now in full operation.
North American Palladium CEO Philip du Toit says it means a big cost saving for the company’s platinum and palladium facility.
Du Toit estimates the savings from the new shaft at 10-15% per tonne.
He adds the new shaft will allow the ore to be removed faster.
Du Toit says the platinum and palladium mine will be in operation until at least 2019 and possibly beyond.
