New Trade Deal Finally Reached

After over a year of negotiations, a trade agreement has finally been reached between Canada, Mexico and the United States.

It will now be known as the United States-Mexico-Canada-Agreement or USMCA.

Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Chrystia Freeland tweeted overnight that the new modernized agreement will give workers, farmers, ranchers and businesses a high standard trade agreement that will result in free markets, fairer trade and robust economic growth in our country.

She added that it will strengthen the middle class, and create good, well-paying jobs and new opportunities for the nearly half billion people in North America.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to reveal more details of the deal around noon Monday.
