New Water Standards Will Force Dryden to take a Se

The Province has introduced strict new standards for Municipal water supplies, which means change is on tap for Officials in Dryden.

The Ontario Safe Drinking Water Act calls for an increased emphasis on a well operated and maintained supply.

Dryden’s Director of Engineering Brad Johns says the Act holds the Corporation and Staff more accountable, with fines now ranging from $20,000 to $10 million.

The new measures also call for a clear financial and operating plan, plus additional staff requirements and strict record keeping.

Johns stresses that the City water supply is safe but adds they will have to fine tune some area’s to comply with the Act.
