New Youth Steering Committee Formed in Dryden

A new steering committee has been given the task of making Dryden a more child and youth friendly community.
A group of individuals from several agency’s will begin their work in the new year, in hopes of drafting a strategic plan by the end of next December.
Patricia Centre for Children and Youth Spokesperson Maureen Sullivan says the group will look at several issues including available services and activities, bullying, suicide, crime, substance abuse as well as the mental health of our youth.
The Committee was formed with the idea of streamlining services and making sure all agency’s are on the same page when it comes to youth issues and grants.
Recent stats show that youth make up one-third of our population.
Sullivan stresses there is a need to bring youth and service providers together for the betterment of our community.
