The Dryden Regional Health Centre’s Northern Surgical Outreach program has been recognized by the Ontario Hospital Association.
The initiative is featured in the OHA 2010 Guidebook on Leading Practices in Patient Safety.
Spokesperson Marlene Ryan says the program has helped improved communication between the Hospital and Northern patients.
It has also made it easier to coordinate travel arrangements and helped eliminate surgical cancellations.
The program was implemented roughly a year and a half ago and has helped the Hospital save about $36,000 a year.
