By a vote of 6 to 0, Dryden Council has agreed to not put fluoride back in the water supply.
Fluoride was removed 3 years ago and earlier this summer officials with the Northwestern Health Unit urged staff to re-consider.
City Manager Arie Hoogenboom says the decision comes after City officials weighed all the input submitted by the Health Unit, the scientific community and the public.
Hoogenboom says the decision hinged on the lack of clear scientific evidence, cost and the proper handling of fluoride among other things.
Councilor Brian Collins says the issue can still be brought to the voters for the next Municipal Election if a petition is signed by 10% of the electorate.
