Doctors say an outbreak of serious skin infections among children in Kashechewan First Nation is not a public health emergency.
A medical team examined more than 30 children in the fly-in community this week, and determined eczema was the most common problem among patients. There are also a few cases of scabies, impetigo and psoriasis.
Health Minister Jane Philpott says the children are being treated, and will be followed-up in two-to-three weeks time.
While recent testing has confirmed Kashechewan’s drinking water meets safety guidelines, Health Canada will be conducting additional independent testing. (File photo)
