The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board is turning away Washagamis Bay (Obashkaandagaang) students becaused the Band hasn’t paid its tuition fees.
Chair Dave Penney says they met with several First Nations in March and all except the Kenora area band have paid a portion of their enrolment fees.
Penney says the First Nation owes more than a million dollars.
Penney says in the past they have had to take money from other areas in
order to pay off the debts.
Classes will resume once a payment is made.
