No Service Cuts In Sioux Lookout

The Mayor of Sioux Lookout says there won’t be any service cuts in the community.
That was one of the things discussed at last night’s public meeting regarding the 2013 Budget.
Dennis Leney says before they were looking at a 2.45 per cent increase in taxes, but they are still looking to lower it.
He says most of council wants to be under two percent, considering the MPAC assessment is also around 2.45 per cent.
In regards to the debt load, Leney says they are at nine per cent, and the provincial standard is no more then 25 per cent.
He credits part of that to the previous council who finished a number of initiatives such as the train station, the Centennial Center and the Seventh Avenue and Front Street upgrades.
Council will meet again on February 20th.
Leney hopes to have the budget complete and ready to be implemented by March.
