The Dryden Minor Hockey Association is getting $10,000 and another $50,000 is going to the city.
Along with their community partner, The Breakfast Club, DMHA is the grand prize winner of the Timber Mart Sharpshooter contest.
Association President Brent Silander says it’s just amazing, considering the city’s current financial situation.
He adds the $10,000 will help run their breakfast club and after school programs that they provide free of charge to all kids in the community.
The $50,000 will go to the Dryden Mayors Committee, which funds youth sporting events.
The Sharpshooter contest featured a Facebook game and mobile app that required the participants to play a hockey game and contribute their points to their local minor hockey association. At the end of the contest, the points were turned into ballots and 10 teams were selected.
Qualifiers were required to submit a proposal on how the money would help their club and its youth-based community organization of choice.
