The Township of Machin will be holding the line on taxes this year.
Council has passed the budget which calls for a 0.1% decrease in the Mill rate.
Even though they have frozen taxes, Mayor Garry Parkes says they will be taking on a number of significant projects in 2009.
Parkes says the municipality is planning to spend $90,000 to purchase the Vermilion Bay Airport and will put money towards the rehabilitation of the Cascades Bridge in Eagle River.
Parkes adds that they hope to carry out upgrades to a number of secondary roads in Vermilion Bay.
He notes that they will see increased costs this year for police service and the municipality had to hire a consultant to oversee the
closure of the municipal landfill site.
