NOMA Calls For Changes To Infrastructure Program

The Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association is asking the province to “tweak” its new Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund.
78 grants have been handed out, but only four communities in this region were successful in landing grants.
NOMA president Dave Canfield says he spent a lot of time this week speaking with provincial cabinet ministers about the program’s short-comings.
Canfield says local communities are falling through the cracks and need more money to fix crumbling infrastructure.
Sioux Lookout, Fort Frances, Rainy River and Rossport were the only communities in northwestern Ontario to receive funding.
Canfield says he will be following up with the government.
