The president of the Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association is pleased with how the Good Roads Conference is going.
Ron Nelson, along with other officials in the region, are in Toronto to meet with the provincial government and discuss issues being faced in the North.
Nelson says they had the privilege to meet with Kathleen Wynne this morning and believes that Wynne is more “going forward”.
He adds that they have a meeting with Progressive Conservative Leader Tim Hudak this evening, and will be sitting down with NDP Leader Andrea Horwath tomorrow.
Some of the main issues that NOMA is brining up include the mining sector in Northwestern Ontario and the revenue that will come out of it, the Endangered Species Act and getting the Regional Government structure to the Northern Policy Institute.
The conference wraps up Wednesday.
Nelson says he will be staying in Toronto to attend a forestry conference.
