Hospitals in Northwestern Ontario are among many in the province that will be affected by recent cuts
The provincial government is cutting health spending by more then three-billion-dollars.
Director of the Ontario Health Coalition, Natalie Mehra, says the region will no doubt see changes.
She notes in smaller communities, they are hearing of hospital cuts that range from a 10 per cent loss in hospital beds to 60 per cent.
Mehra says majority of hospitals in the province are operating under deficit, and by April 1st, hospitals that are projecting deficits for this fiscal year must have a plan to eliminate their deficit, even if it means cutting necessary services.
The OHC has announced that March 4th will be a day of action, called “SOS” which stands for “Save Our Services”.
While it is not clear if there are any plans for the Dryden Regional Health Center, health care workers across the province plan to protest on that day.
