Thunder Bay Noted In Stats Can Survey

In a new Statistics Canada report released today, Thunder Bay is directly named regarding violence against women.
Executive Director Debbie Zweep of the Faye Peterson Transition House says it shows the number of violent crimes against women in the city is the worst in the country.
Zweep notes that on page 14 of the document, police reported violence against women most prevalent in Thunder Bay and believes that is exactly what they are seeing in the city.
She adds it’s no surprise, and says that 5-10 per cent of women that come into the house have dealt with police.
The reports also says Thunder Bay and Saskatoon recorded rates that were nearly double the average
