NOP Attacking Government On Winter Road Maintenance

The provincial Liberals continue to face the heat on winter road maintenance in northwestern Ontario.

Northern Ontario Party leader Trevor Holliday is asking why our citizens are forced to play Russian roulette every time they drive in the Winter. Holliday is demanding the immediate end to contracting out maintenance and place the responsibility back under the Ministry of Transportation.

He notes under the current system, all the government is doing is trading the safety of Northerners to the cheapest bidder.

Holliday adds if Premier Kathleen Wynne is serious about creating fairness across the province, then she should solve the imbalance with winter road safety in our area.

Holliday stresses we don’t have the luxury of choosing not to travel, noting we don’t have the public transportation options that they do in the south.
