North West LHIN Offers Support To Ease Hospital Wait Times

Peak flu season has arrived and the North West Local Health Integration Network is out with some tips to avoid trips to the Emergency Department.

The holiday season brings increased demand for health services at regional hospitals, with longer than usual wait times due to influenza and seasonal injuries.

The LHIN says it’s important to know where to access information about health care services.

A regional website has been set up as well as a toll-free line.

Officials add simple actions like getting a free flu shot, ensuring you have all your prescriptions refilled and washing your hands will help prevent hospital over-crowding.

Here is some information on where you can go for assistance:

1. www.northwestlhin.on.ca
2. Telehealth Ontario: 1-866-797-0000 (24-hours a day, seven days a week)
3. Health Care Connect: 1-800-445-1822
