Northern Aboriginal Group Turning To Quebec For Cheaper Electricity

An aboriginal group in northern Ontario is looking east for cheaper electricity.
The Mushkegowuk Council is proposing to bring power from Quebec to feed its remote communities.
Grand Chief Lawrence Martin says they just need some co-operation from the province.
Martin says unfortunately there are no policies to allow for the easy flow of electricity from Quebec into his communities.
He stresses they can’t afford Ontario hydro rates.
Martin says Quebec has the lowest priced electricity in Canada, and it’s something he would like to take advantage of for industry and northern residents.
