A program to help re-forest property across the province is expanding its presence in northwestern Ontario.
Forest Ontario’s 50-Million Tree campaign was started about a decade ago with most of the focus on southern Ontario.
Northern Ontario Field Advisor Peter Gagnon says they are targeting private lands, municipal areas and parks.
Gagnon says about 2.5 million trees are being planted each year, and hopes northern Ontario can add half-million a year towards the goal.
He adds they have some interest in the Dryden and Fort Frances areas and they hope to start planting this Spring.
