Northern Growth Plan Under the Microscope

The Provincial Government’s Northern Growth Plan is taking some criticism after the release of Quebec’s ‘Plan Nord.’
Lakehead University Economics Professor Livio Di Matteo says our plan appears to lack in comparison.
He says while our plan does commit $5-million for a Northern Policy institute, Quebec is committing $2.1-billion.
The NDP is also attacking the Liberal Government’s Northern Growth Plan.
Northern Development Critic Gilles Bisson says the Liberals short changed the region with it’s strategy.
Bisson feels the Province should follow Quebec’s lead and put the money where there mouth is.
Thunder Bay-Atikokan Liberal MPP Bill Mauro is defending the plan and notes they are working on establishing the site of the Northern Policy Institute.
