Red Lake residents are smelling smoke, but its not from forest fires in that area.
Heavy smoke from large fires burning in Northern Manitoba is being carried in by high winds.
The smell could also be detected in Dryden last night, but to a lesser degree.
About 40-fire rangers and 3-aircraft from our District are in Northern Manitoba battling wild fires.
The fire situation locally remains very quit.
Just one new blaze was reported Wednesday in the Thunder Bay District.
The Ministry of Natural Resources is also investigating the report of 2-possible new fires in Red Lake Wednesday night.
