A top doctor in our region isn’t a fan of a recommendation to merge the Northwestern Health Unit and the Thunder Bay District Health Unit.
A provincial health panel has suggested the province reduce the number of health units down from 36 to 14.
Dr. Janet DeMille says if the provincial government chooses to go ahead with the move, it would take a lot of money and staffing to realign the boundaries.
She calls it an expensive and complicated endeavour.
DeMille questions whether front line workers can get the regular day-to-day public health done properly in such a huge area.
