Northern MP Says Budget Contains More Money For FedNor

Thunder Bay-Rainy River MP Don Rusnak says the federal budget provides plenty of goodies for northwestern Ontario.

The Liberal says the fiscal document provides $49.6-million for the north’s economic development agency FedNor, up from $36-million from the previous government.

Rusnak notes the government also plans to reopen the Veterans Affairs office in Thunder Bay.

He also points to increased funding for First Nations.

The Liberals first budget didn’t include any mention of the proposed Ring of Fire mining development.

Rusnak believes it’ll eventually come under the infrastructure funding envelope.
