The Northern Ontario Sustainable Communities Partnership
is standing up for the forest industry.
The group recently created a forestry charter, and so
far 8 municipalities have endorsed it.
Spokesperson Dr. Peggy Smith says communities need to
have more control over the licensing of area forests.

Smith adds they are in talks with the MNR about the
current licensing process.
Neither Dryden or Kenora City Council’s have endorsed
the group’s forest charter.
