At least one Northwestern Ontario NDP MP has announced his plans for the long gun registry vote.
Thunder Bay-Superior North Bruce Hyer says he would like to see debate continue, so he will be voting in favour next Wednesday of moving ahead with a plan to scrap the gun registry.
Commenting on the final vote on C-391 itself, Hyer says its a divisive issue and each MP must consider their constituents.
He notes he hasn’t been given any definitive reasons at this point to change his mind.
NDP Leader Jack Layton says he’s confident his caucus will deliver the votes the opposition needs to completely defeat a Tory bill to abolish the registry.
