People living longer with cancer is good news but it has a dark side too.
That’s the opinion of the Regional Cancer Centre’s Vice President.
Michael Power says people are finding cancer earlier and in turn are living longer.
Power says on the flip side cancer rates continue to increase.
A recent study shows the 5-year prevelance rate for cancer overall in Canada rose 2.1% between 1997 and 2008.
Power says improved screening and diagnosis often mean a better chance for earlier treatment.
