Northwest Fire Update

Officials with the Ministry of Natural Resources are optimistic the fire situation in the region will improve in the days ahead.
However, an open fire ban remains in place in the Northwest region due to concerns about lightning strikes and stretched resources.
Currently, there are sixty active fires across the region.
The MNR has called in 5 fire ranger crews from the Northwest Territories and 30 crews from other parts of Ontario.
