The Province has announced the Northwestern Ontario District Health
Council will be replaced by a Local Health Integration Network.
For more than 30 years, the Council has worked with local agencies to
shape the future of the Regional Health Care System.
Chair Paulina Chow says they will walk away at the end of March
with a number of achievements under their belt.
The move is part of a Province-wide overhaul to create a more
integrated, people-centred Health Care System.
6 full time employees will lose their job as a result however the
Council will work with the Government to ensure a smooth transition.
The new Local Health Integration Network will extend from the Manitoba
Border to White River.
