Northwest LHIN Focusing On Programs To Help Expecting Mothers

A spokesperson for the Northwest Local Health Integration Network admits the area continues to struggle with babies born with addictions to narcotics.

However, Susan Pilatzke says they are making progress as the latest figures show a drop of about 15% over the the last three years thanks to what she says are new programs for expecting mothers.

Pilatzke says the Integrated Pregnancy program at the Meno-Ya-Win Health Centre in Sioux Lookout has helped over 400-patients with medical withdrawal services.

Pilatzke notes they will continue to invest in initiatives to help mothers crack their addictions and ensure a healthy start at life for their children.
