Northwestern Catholic School Board Passes its Budg

The Northwestern Catholic District School Board has been forced to take $95,000 out of reserves in order to balance the 2004-2005 budget.
Chief Financial Officer Chris Howarth says they received help in balancing the books with an additional $820,000 from the Distance Schools Grant and the Primary Class Size Grant.
The Board has approved some electrical upgrades and general renovations for the next school year.
They also plan on hiring 2 full time teachers and 8 educational assistants.
However, Howarth notes they do have some concerns about a new Transportation funding formula that could bring in fewer dollars.
