The Northern Ontario School of Medicine continues to work on implementing recommendations contained in its ten year strategic plan.
An update was provided to Board of Directors last week.
Dean Dr. Roger Strasser says they are in the process of introducing a masters program that will provide an opportunity for students in this area to take academic training.
Strasser says research is the centre piece of the program, noting they have a better chance to identify health gaps in the region by doing more research in the north.
Strasser adds the focus now is building on achievements from previous years as well as consolidating programs.
